I love finding new and engaging public spaces. I've heard good things about Chicago's Millenium Park and several places in Portland, London, Vancouver and Berlin, and I found this clip on YouTube about New York's High Line (presented in an overly-gushy style, but never mind):
Can you recommend any other inspiring designed spaces/landscape modifications?
This site has a lot of ideas for converting traffic areas to recreational spaces (both ephemeral and long-term projects)....
